Melancholy fills your grey-sky eyes
Transforming you into November snow
Though love comes raining from the skies
But everything you feel is so cold.
And though the sun shines in the distance
There's much darkness falling all around,
You sit with your head between your knees
And your heart bleeds scarlet on snow-white ground.
I hurt to see you live in such pain,
If I could I'd toss it to the sands
And fill your hopeless heart with love
And I'd hope to make you understand...
I brush the hair out from your eyes
And brush away the tears that fall,
Slowly you raise your eyes to me
In answer to my unspoken call.
I gather you into my opened arms
And offer you my quiet shelter;
A sanctuary from raging storms,
A refuge that will never falter,
And as we hold close in warm embrace
I see shadows clearing from your eyes
As the warmth of distant sunlight reigns
I hold onto you as fear subsides.
