Hello, I'm Samantha and Welcome to Aphrodite's Love Poetry. I am a full time student at Marquette University majoring in Criminology and Law Studies with a Psychology minor. I am in my last semester and currently seeking employment in Law Enforcement.

Well, I first started writing poetry in high school. I had so many emotions and thoughts and the moment I put pen to paper, not only did I feel better, but I had written something I was proud of.

Shortly after that time I started checking out books of poetry from the school library. Carl Sandburg was my favorite for a long time and he is still one of my favorites.

I no longer focus on favorite poets, but more on favorite poems.

It was a long time before I shared my poetry with anyone. The first person who saw or heard anything I wrote was one of best friends, Tara. She, of course, said she liked it. But, I was unconvinced; she was my

best friend after all and I didn't expect her to tell me I was horrible, even if I was. So, I read her a poem of mine over the phone under the pretense that it was someone else's. She liked it. I told her it was mine and she was, I think, a little surprised.

I had a particularly good relationship with one of my High School English teacher, Mrs. Adams. She was wonderful! Well, I showed her some of my poetry because I wanted to know if it was any good. She liked them too and suggested I try to get them published.

I did once try to read one of my poems at one of those deals where people take turns reading their work aloud in front of a group. I'll never do that again. It was horrible, I'd much rather stand up there naked. It would be much easier to bare my body than my soul. Not to say that you shouldn't give it a try. I applaud anyone with that kind of courage.

I now keep a journal which I write in almost daily. My journal is easily one of my most prized possessions. Lots of cathartic moments in there.

I spend my days in classes, studying, reading, writing and working out. My favorite class this semester is Criminal Law. It's just so interesting how things are defined in the statutes and the professor is great as well, which can make all the difference.

If I had more money and fewer responsibilities I'd love to become a world traveler. I spent two weeks in Germany and Austria about four summers ago and I really loved it. The castles were a particular favorite of mine. The list of places I'd like to visit is extensive and quite possibly endless.
